Ingredients
  

Sandwich

  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 can tuna drained
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper freshly ground, to taste

Optional Garnish

  • fresh herbs like parsley or dill, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Spread the tuna mixture evenly on one slice of bread. Top with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese, followed by tomato slices. Close with the second slice of bread.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown.
  • Flip the sandwich carefully and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted.
  • Slice in half, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve warm!

Notes

Use high-quality canned tuna for best flavor. Thoroughly drain the tuna to prevent a soggy sandwich. Try Swiss, Gouda, or Pepper Jack cheese for variety, or add jalapeños for a spicy kick. Serve with potato chips, a small salad, or soup for a complete meal.
